update 0.0.6 beta

This is a rather large update with several new features finally implemented and a lot of fundamental changes about the way the game is designed.

I implemented a "modular" approach to each level which let me get much better performance by only loading the assets/ functions desired into each scene. In the short term, this means I'll have to redesign each level (i've finished the first area and halfway throuugh the second), but it should be a big time saver in the long term. I've been able to get 50-60fps on my dinosaur laptop, and about 30fps on my clunky mobile (on the lowest settings). I imagine someone with a better system should be able to get better performance. If you play, please comment with the device used, the settings you tried, and how was the performance.

Options:

There's now an options screen that lets you modify various display options to your liking to get a good harmonious balance between appearance and performance depending on your device.

New options:

  1. CPU mod: this allows you to throttle the rate that the graphics are rendered, positioned, and layer. On Low, the rendering, positioning, and layering each take place one frame after the other (three frames)  On Med, the rendering and positioning happen on one frame, and the layering on the next frame. On high, rendering, positioning, and layering all happen on the same frame. It might seem silly, but this was the only way I could get the game in a playable state on my junky phone :)
  2. Graphics Mod: You now have an option to use 32x32 tiles or 64x64 tiles. Think of it as going from ps1 to n64 at the push of a button :)
  3. Shading Mod:  You have an option to add shading to enhance the illusion of depth. Low: no shading. Med: walls are shaded. High: walls and npcs are shaded. *Note: this feature did not work well for me when I tested it on mobile. I love it on the laptop, but on my phone it's dark and hard to see when I use shading Med or High. Dunno if this is from my screen brightness. I'll be exploring solutions for this for the next update.
  4. Lights: There's an additional light layer to enhance the "spooky dungeon" feel you can turn on and off.
  5. Sound: Sound can now be turned up and down in game.
